What do you "see" in a Reiki session?

During a time of deep personal and spiritual shifts, Reiki has been a grounding force for me, helping me stay clear, connected, balanced, and supported through a time that feels a bit energetically “wobbly”.
One of the greatest blessings of my path is the incredible community I now have around me. I’m fortunate to know many AMAZING Reiki practitioners! - and I’m loving experiencing each person‘s unique approach and supportive gifts in my sessions.
A few months ago, during a session, I had a really incredible experience while receiving Reiki.
On the table, with my eyes closed, deeply relaxed, I began "seeing" a tattoo being placed onto my body. There was a foundational design that remained constant, with many different symbols appearing and shifting throughout the session. I was completely immersed in the experience, “watching” this energetic imprint unfold throughout the session. (For context, some people “see” with their third eye clearly in meditation & Reiki. This is not the way I most often “connect”… so when I do…. I am always in awe!)
As soon as the session ended, I asked for a piece of paper and sketched the image.
The tattoo includes:
∞ An infinity symbol — representing limitless possibility, eternal connection, no beginning and no end
✨ The words “Truth” and “Freedom” — holding deep meaning including living authentically, accepting what is, and brave, heart-centered, soul-led living
➵ Two arrowheads — symbols of protection, forward movement, courage, and direction even through uncertainty
I decided to get the tattoo on Valentine’s Day as an act of self-love as well as an intention of love for every person who trusts me to place my hands on them in Reiki sessions. I meditated on these intentions while it was being inked.
I was inspired to share this this morning because yesterday, I had one of my regular Reiki clients (in her 80s) “see” in her session for the first time. It was such an inspiring session and conversation for so many reasons…But one of my biggest takeaways is that it’s never too late to lean into yourself, your soul and into the possibilities that lie within spaces you may not have explored yet. I got this tattoo at 50. My friend, yesterday, had a brand new experience “seeing” in a new way, in her 80s… If you feel a nudge or a call that there is something more available to you, for you or that wants to come from you, don’t limit yourself by your age or stage of life. Get into meditation or on a Reiki table or in communities where people are talking about and experiencing these beautiful things. There is so much, my friends!
