Each season, I love to celebrate one of the Reiki practitioners who has studied with me and is now sharing Reiki with the world in their own unique way. This Spring, we’re celebrating Kristen Naes. Kristen happens to be both a Reiki student and one of my coaching clients, and it is such a joy to witness her putting her dreams into action through the creation of Lumina Healing Arts. Her path and professional work are truly inspiring—I hope you’ll take a moment to read her story and explore her beautiful practice.

Kristen's Reiki Journey
How did you first become interested in Reiki, and what inspired you to complete your training?
My journey with Reiki began in 2018, sparked by a profound experience with energy healing. I had my first session with a shamanic practitioner and left feeling both lighter and more grounded—like something deep within me had shifted in ways I couldn’t quite put into words. That experience opened my eyes to the power of energy work, but it wasn’t until a chance encounter at work that Reiki truly called to me.
A nurse I worked with happened to be a Reiki practitioner, and one day, she offered to share Reiki with me right at my desk. As her hands hovered over my shoulders, I felt a warm, liquid energy cascading down my back—a sensation so deeply nurturing and magical that it left me in awe. In that moment, I knew I had to learn more. When she told me that Reiki was something I could learn to use for myself and others, a fire was lit within me.
I completed my first Reiki training soon after, but at the time, I was still carrying fear-based beliefs from my upbringing—hesitations about “opening doors” to energies I didn’t fully understand. Because of this, I held back from fully stepping into my practice. It wasn’t until I repeated my training in the summer of 2024 with Laura, followed by Reiki II, that I finally embraced Reiki with my whole heart. Looking back, I see that everything unfolded in divine timing. I was meant to step into this path when I was truly ready—without fear, but with deep trust, reverence, and excitement for the journey ahead.
What impact has Reiki training had on your life?
Reiki training was a profound turning point in my spiritual evolution, opening doors I never imagined possible. During my attunement, I experienced a powerful new connection with a spirit guide—an ancestral matriarch who revealed herself as my “great-grandmother” many generations back. She called herself “GG” and made it clear that she was here to mentor me through this next chapter of my soul’s journey, guiding me to channel divine feminine energy into every aspect of my work---especially Reiki, but also my work as a social worker and therapist. This was how I was called to serve.
Since that moment, my psychic and mediumistic abilities have expanded in ways that feel nothing short of miraculous. My connection to the other side deepened, my spirit team grew, and every day I step more fully into my gifts with confidence and trust. Reiki training didn’t just teach me a healing modality—it unlocked a level of spiritual connection I had only dreamed of. Where there was once fear, there is now joy and constant amazement.
Reiki has become a sacred bridge between myself and Spirit, a constant source of wisdom, love, and magic. There aren’t enough words! With each session, I feel the presence of guides, angels, and loved ones across the veil—reminding me that none of us are ever alone.
Do you have a favorite book, podcast, or resource that has been a meaningful part of your Reiki journey?
I loved The Art of Psychic Reiki: Developing Your Intuitive and Empathic Abilities for Energy Healing by Lisa Campion—it’s the most impactful Reiki book I’ve read since completing my first two trainings. This book beautifully explores the intuitive and psychic dimensions of Reiki, showing how energy healing is not just about technique but also about trusting your inner knowing and working in harmony with Spirit. It has deeply influenced my approach, especially in how I integrate clairvoyance, intuition, and energetic boundaries into my Reiki sessions. Whether you’re a practitioner or simply curious about Reiki’s deeper layers, I highly recommend it!
How do you currently incorporate Reiki into your life?
I offer Reiki sessions through my business, Lumina Healing Arts, integrating it with other healing practices—especially Internal Family Systems (IFS). Reiki and IFS work so beautifully well together, helping my clients not only receive deep energetic healing but also understand and connect with the parts of themselves that surface during our sessions.
IFS is a therapeutic model that sees the mind as a constellation of inner parts, each with its own role and perspective. When I integrate Reiki with IFS, I guide my clients in gently uncovering the emotions, memories, and protective mechanisms held within their energy body. For example, during one Reiki session, I intuitively sensed a blockage around a client’s throat chakra. I saw it as a stack of golden rings wrapped around her neck and heard the word “HUSH!” echo in my awareness. When I shared this vision with her afterward, she became tearful, immediately recalling how, as a child, she was often hushed whenever she sought comfort from her family.
Through IFS, we explored this part of her—the one that had learned to silence itself to avoid the pain of emotional neglect and rejection. With Reiki creating a sacred space for divine love to flow and IFS offering a pathway to deeper self-understanding, she was able to meet this wounded part with compassion.
For me, Reiki is more than just an energy healing practice—it’s a bridge to self-discovery, empowerment, and reconnection with the soul’s innate wisdom and to Spirit. I feel honored to witness the transformations that unfold when energy healing and deep inner work come together.

Do you offer any additional services or modalities?
I continue to develop my offerings at Lumina Healing Arts all the time. My mission is to help women and LGBTQIA+ individuals connect to Spirit and embrace their inner wisdom to create lives of luminous magic, meaning, and connectedness—without fear, loneliness, and self-doubt holding them back.
In support of this mission, I currently offer Reiki, 1:1 spiritual wellness support, monthly moon circles, and intuitive oracle card readings. As I continue developing my gifts as an evidential medium, I will soon be offering evidential and trance mediumship readings, with the goal of providing heartfelt connections with loved ones in spirit. And this is just the beginning—there is always more magic to come!

Who is your ideal client and how can people connect with you for sessions?
I primarily serve women and LGBTQIA+ individuals, creating a safe and sacred space for healing and deepening spiritual connection. As a queer woman, I know the pain of feeling spiritually disconnected—I once feared that embracing my truth meant losing divine love. Over time, Spirit helped me heal, and now I help others in my community experience that same freedom, knowing they are deeply loved just as they are.
Clients are welcome to book a session anytime through my website: www.luminahealingarts.com.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your journey, philosophy, or approach to Reiki?
My approach to Reiki is rooted in channeling the Divine Feminine, especially the nurturing presence of the Divine Mother. I feel that the world has become unbalanced, overwhelmed by excessive masculine energy that prioritizes force over flow, logic over intuition, and control over connection—contributing to many of the struggles we face today. By inviting the sacred feminine into each session, I hope to create a space of deep comfort, safety, and unconditional love.
This maternal energy is especially powerful for those who have felt unseen, disconnected, or depleted, offering a deep sense of belonging and spiritual nourishment. Through Reiki, I hope to restore this lost balance, helping clients remember that they are held, cherished, and deeply supported by Spirit. We are so deeply delighted in and loved. Always!
